ANDERSON

The plan was to replace the deck planks and handrails, but we ended up having to do a lot more on this deck; when we took off the planks, the structure nearly collapsed! This was some of the worst deck construction we've seen; 36" on center spacing, no brackets, and the 2x6 supports were held up by just two 12 penny nails. We re-built the entire structure, and it's strong enough to park a car on now! We used premium wood on this deck, which did add a fair bit to the cost, but the quality of the wood means this deck will last for many years.

This home had an old deck that needed replacement, so we put it two new decks! After we removed the old deck, we built a small deck off of the rear door with stairs down to a larger deck. Handrails were installed on the upper deck and the stairs, and we also built a shingled roof over the upper portion.

WASHINGTON
Sometimes, a deck needs more than just refinishing. This deck, located on Rainbow Lane in Mt. Washington, had a good layout, but much of the wood was too rough to continue using. We replaced the planks and railings with fresh wood. We also replaced the half-wall and the stairs, and installed new lattice underneath the deck.

ANDERSON
TOWNSHIP
For this deck, we kept a lot of the existing framework, but we separated it from a lower deck just around the corner of the house. We resurfaced the upper deck with premium 5/4 x 6" planks and patched in new handrails where necessary. We also poured concrete piers for posts to support the new stairs, and we replaced cap on the handrails with fresh wood.

HYDE PARK,

This deck has a great layout, and the structure has held up very well. As such, the only real work we had to do on this was re-surfacing. We removed the old boards and installed composite boards that were close to the same color as the old boards. To top it off, we ran a strip of trim around the edge of the deck to seal the ends of the boards.

A bit of shade makes it so much easier to enjoy your deck or patio! This home had a lovely deck, and the owners wanted to be able to enjoy it rain or shine, so we built a pergola over it. The roof is solid so that nothing underneath gets wet, and we sloped it down slightly and installed a small gutter system for drainage.

SHADY
HOLLOW
The wood on this deck was in rough shape, so it was time for replacement! We kept the railings, but replaced all the planks, changing from a herringbone pattern to a more traditional pattern. The end result is much better looking, and should endure a long time!

HILLS
For this deck, we began by removing the diagonal 1"x3" planks and installing straight 5/4x6" planks. We also secured all of the rail posts, rails, blocking, and set new posts for the stairs into concrete. Finally, we put new treads on the stairs and built a new set of stairs to go from the lower to the upper deck.

This deck was actually two projects in one! The front door had a small set of stairs that we converted into a deck, and the back deck was rebuilt to match it. For the back, we actually removed the lower deck and replaced it with a concrete pad, and we changed the direction of the stairs in order to better utilize the space.
